What happens to tv band radios when television signals go digital?

Next year I believe television broadcasts are going to go digital. What will happen to your "tv band" radio signals. I would assume you will no longer receive the tv band signals. Am I mistaken?

The frequencies will be auctioned off for other uses.
There is a lot of interest in using it for wireless networking...
